Is This the New Rampage XB-E ?

5/10/2012

I found some more pics online of what could be the new Redcat Rampage XB-E.  It appears to be a hybrid of an XB-E and a DuneRunner / MT.  At 750mm in length, it's about the same size as an XB-E but I see the more robust suspension from an MT/DuneRunner.

Let's hope we see this on Redcat Racing's shelves soon so I can order one and give it a full review.

What do you guys think of it?

It's from the same Chinese factory and it's solder under the following 2 names:

- HSP King Hornet
- Amewi Pitbull X (brushless)

Awesome model! There are videos of it on YouTube.

Thanks for the info Ralph.

It looks awesome! Hopefully Redcat starts selling it here in the US some day.

You're welcome, Rob. I 1st saw the model here on your blog a while ago and was glad I actually stumbled on it's name. I currently own a Carson Dirt Attack XXL (yet another Rampage XB-E clone) and would love to add the Hornet / Pittbull to my collection.

Yeah, would be cool if Redcat picked it up, as that would probably lead to lots of alu hop-up parts. Though here in the Netherlands, I'll probably have to go for the Pitbull X (sold in Europe by German Amewi).

Also, you might want to have a look at Carson's new Porsche 934 Turbo RSR 6S 2,4 G RTR. It's a 1/5th brushless on-road model and it looks like it's made by the same Chinese factory (looking at the chassis, rounded servo and the model's overall simple design, though not 100% sure). It's another model I've got my eyes on... would love to see how it goes with a Castle Creations 2028 motor in it... it'll probably take off; lol. It's sold for just over 500 to 600 Euros.

PS: cool YT vids and a pitty you (currently) don't ship orders outside the US :)

That Carson looks pretty cool. The chassis looks light. I don't recognize many of the parts. It could be from the same Chinese factory but I haven't seen it anywhere else...yet : )

Yeah, my doubt is also caused by the parts; the edges look less rounded for example. If the chassis ever pops up somehwere else, I'll let you know.

I just stumbled on heavy duty rear/front upper arms for XB(-E) by DGI Racing. Not sure whether you know about these parts already, but they look pretty solid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D_-C5WOCB8

Also, the Carson Dirt Attack XXL has the 6MM thread axles and I'm thinking about converting them to 10MM. I've seen your video re this topic. But what I can't find anywhere on the internet (as pictures aren't zoomed in enough), is whether the 10MM setup uses a 'wheel>washer>wheel nut' setup as well. Or is the washer left out?

I have seen those DGI units. They are big for sure...a little ugly but all reports are they are virtually indestructible.

Just the 10mm wheel nut...no washers

They're indeed a bit ugly. Good to know about the postive reports.

Thanks for the info!
