Help - Should I Modify my Rampage XB or Run it Stock?

2/26/2012

Hey guys. I need your help deciding what to do with my Rampage XB. Would you like to see me run it more or less stock (stock motor, stock air filter, stock pipe, stock gears, stock bearings) or should I swap the engine out right away? My dilemma is, if I sell the stock parts when they are brand new, I'll get more for them. Once they are used, they are not worth much.

I already have a killer V2 kill switch, FS-GTV3 radio/receiver, Hitec 5645 throttle servo, Hitec 5755 Steering servo, aluminum MT gear plate, aluminum roll cage, aluminum rear chassis brace.

I guess the big question is, should I run the stock HY 30cc engine and a Redcat tuned pipe or sell those and install a Zenoah and a JetPro pipe?

that is a dilemma.

my own selfish thoughts were "run it stock for a while and shoot video of it."
I'd like to get an XB as well, but that would be my secondary vehicle, since I don't want to upset my neighbors. I'd go elsewhere to drive it. but really, I just want to see (more) video of a stock XB. I'm curious to know how they perform.

however, I think wisdom would dictate that it might be a better idea not to run the stock setup, but keep it new, instead. this is an expensive hobby and every dime that you can recoup is well worth the effort. you're familiar with the performance of a stock buggy and you already have parts and plans for the upgrade...

if it's worth anything, I'd be leaning towards swapping out the brand new parts.

I think I'm leaning toward "If it aint broke, don't fix it"

I'll add the kill switch, servos, gear plate and 7075rc hubs and run the stock engine for now. For two reasons:
1. I don't have the money for many more mods right now
2. I'd like to report back to you guys how the stock engine/carb/pipe work out

I agree with Rob,if its not broke dont fix it.Drive it have fun with it. On the other hand if your going to race it up grade it. Remember a good race engine will cost you more than you paid for your rampage new. Whatever you choose enjoy and have fun!

Cordy, I only "bash" so I'll never go with an all out race motor. If I do an engine swap some day, it'd probably be for a Zenoah G270RC. Approximately $270 from DDM. I'd be searching for a little more power but more importantly, more reliability.

...maybe some day...stock engine is staying in for now

I think I'm going to run it with the stock motor for now. I have a JetPro rear pipe, HPI air filter and shred stack to install first though
