Whether you've already purchased your gas powered Rampage or you are about to, you'll want to pick up a few basic accessories if you don't already have them.
- AA Batteries: You'll need 4 AA batteries for the transmitter (remote control). I recommend using high quality Alkaline batteries such as the Tenergy batteries that I sell or perhaps some Duracell or similar high quality cells. Do not use old or cheap batteries from the dollar store. In order to have a strong radio signal, a high quality battery is the only way to go.
- Gas can and fresh fuel: I suggest getting a gas can specifically for your Rampage. If you've got some old, dirty fuel laying around that you use for your lawnmower, it's also time to treat yourself to a fresh batch. It suggest buying smaller amounts of fuel more often rather than 5 gallons at a time. This will help ensure your fuel is as fresh as can be. Everyone has their own opinion on what fuel/octane to use. I say go with "Premium" and it will work well.
- 2-Stroke Oil: This one is important. Do not use anything from the hardware store or even hobby store. Pick up some high quality 2-stroke dirt bike oil. My top picks are Castor 927, Yamalube or Honda HP2
Not required but helpful
Here are a few items that are not 100% required but will make your life easier:
- Battery charger: All Rampages include a receiver battery and a basic trickle charger. This charger takes 6-8 hours to charge. I don't know about you but I don't like waiting 6-8 hours between runs for my battery to charge. I suggest a quality charger such as the HX-705 that I sell or perhaps a B6 from Amazon.
- Receiver battery: You may want to also consider adding a second receiver pack to you pit box or upgrading to a 5000mAh pack for longer runs between charges. The stock battery will last for about 1 tank of fuel. Having a second pack or a higher mAh pack available will allow you to run your Rampage for longer.
- Tools: Some high quality metric hex wrenches will help ensure you do not strip any screws. I offer some nice Hexfly tools or you can use anything for a quality manufacturer such as Snap-On, Mac etc. Do not use the ball end style, keep your tips sharp and the chances of stripping any screws is reduced to almost zero.
- Ratio Rite: A Ratio Rite or similar oil mixing cup is the easiest way that I know of to ensure fast and accurate oil/fuel mixture. By the way, I like to mix my fuel 28:1
I hope this helps, if you find this information helpful, please use the links in this post to purchase your additional items from Amazon and I'll earn a small commission.
