Cordy's Rampage XB with Nutech Thunderbolt Body

3/3/2012

I just received these pics from Cordy of his XB.  Cordy says he used a Nutech Thunderbolt 2 body, it fit`s with a little triming.  He used gold metal flake on a yellow base, black lace with flaming orange panels.  The grim reaper was put on with lexan picture glue. The n8wd on the nose is his amateur radio call sign.

Please let Cordy know what you think of his custom XB by leaving a Comment

Cordy..... You give hope to this young 52 year old... Now I want to start learning how to paint just like you...

That is a very sweet paint job.. It looks too nice to run..

Thanks, its theraputic for me.There are far supieror painters out there than me. This is a hobby ,painting your body is part of the fun.Don`t be intimidated by the air brush it just sprays paint nothing more. Practice is the key, practice on cardboard befor you discard it. Unfortunately redcat has choosen not to make clear xb bodys. That being said if you need any info on painting just ask. You dont need an expensive air brush because your not painting murals on hoods, gas tanks ect. Again this is a hobby for you.

I have painted a body (my kyosho snow groomer) but it was a rattle can, and not much finesse... Going to pick up an airbrush, but will have to wait for the weather to warm up. My garage is not heated.. So... I will have to wait... I have a project in mind... I have a HPI Sprint 2 flux it came with the 2010 camaro body on it... I picked up a clear 1970 mustang body for it. Going to practice before I paint that. Also going to dust off my wood working / carving skills to make a mold for a 1/5 body for my other cars... Want to try and make some of the parts myself.. That is part of the hobby as well... Will see how that works... I realize that driving is only one part of the hobby... Just like 1:1 cars, some parts are bolt on.... some you have to make fit... some you just have to make...

One of my many daydreams is to make carbon fibre RC bodies. I've never done anything like that before but I think it'd be kinda cool.
